Plastering and Drywall Systems

Plastering and Drywall Systems

Plastering, installing drywall systems, and creating decorative mouldings are skills for people who like making and fixing things and have a good knowledge of building tools. Plasterers work both on projects from private homes to historic sites, on inside and outside surfaces.

Their work often starts with creating metal frames, installing plasterboard to create drywalls, and then applying the final plaster surface. To interpret the plans correctly, plasterers need to know how to use a range of materials and how to work on projects that include curved surfaces, doors, windows, and decorative moulding. They have to be fully aware of legislation and guidance relating to the use and preparation of materials. Moreover, plasterers will also be required to make possible repairs.

They are typically employed as sub-contractors on large construction sites for domestic, commercial, or industrial use which means that many plasterers will be self-employed, taking responsibility for tax and other earnings-related regulations.

What makes a good plasterer? Above all, accuracy, care, and skill. This work also includes complex mathematical calculations, knowledge of complex specifications, and used materials. Working on a building site can be dangerous, so the plasterer needs to be careful to prevent injury or damage. This profession also allows you to work in teams, with other skilled craftsmen.
